Review your test results

It is important to know what your test results are and what they mean. Take time to discuss your results with your healthcare provider.

Medical terms can be hard to understand. Ask your healthcare provider for explanations and examples to make sure you fully understand.

You may be able to see your results and health information using secure online tools:

Diagnosing PCOS

You can be diagnosed as having PCOS when you have at least 2 of these 3 things:

Hyperandrogenism: This may include higher levels of testosterone as shown in your blood tests or physical signs of excess testosterone, like acne, scalp hair loss, and excess hair growth.
Menstrual irregularities: Having irregular periods, long gaps between periods, missed periods, or no periods.
Polycystic ovaries: Ultrasound findings showing multiple fluid-filled follicles that look like cysts.

You do not need all 3 of these criteria to diagnose PCOS.
