Routine immunization for children

To book an appointment for a routine immunization (childhood vaccine) for your child, call 811 or your nearest AHS public health or community health centre. Try to call at least 4 weeks in advance of when your child’s vaccine is due.

Use the Find Community Health Centres search tool or call Health Link at 811 to find the centre nearest you.

Influenza (flu) and COVID-19


COVID-19 VACCINE UPDATE: The updated XBB COVID-19 vaccine (made to protect against the newest strains of COVID-19) will likely be available in the coming weeks. You should consider delaying your COVID-19 booster dose until this vaccine becomes available.

Everyone 6 months of age and older is encouraged to get these vaccines. Children under 5 years of age must get these vaccines at an AHS clinic or participating doctor’s office.

Call Health Link at 811 if:

  • You do not have an Alberta healthcare card.
  • You live in a community where there are no healthcare providers who give vaccines.
  • You need help booking an appointment.

Travel immunization

Effective April 1, 2023, Alberta Health Services travel health clinics are permanently closed in all zones.

To book an appointment for vaccines you need for travel, contact a private travel health clinic, your doctor, or your local pharmacist.

Post-secondary healthcare students
If you are seeking immunization and/or a tuberculin skin test for your healthcare training program, please contact your educational institution to confirm if provincially funded immunizations are available through your institution. Alternatively, you can contact a private travel health clinic, your doctor or local pharmacist to obtain immunizations for a fee.
