In Alberta, Dukoral not offered for free. You can check if your health insurance plan covers the cost.
Cholera and traveller’s diarrhea are both caused by bacteria. Symptoms include very bad diarrhea (watery stool), throwing up, and belly cramping. They’re normally treated by replacing lost fluids. You might also get antibiotics.
Your risk for cholera and traveller’s diarrhea depends on where you’re travelling and what you’re doing.

Cholera and traveller’s diarrhea spread by drinking water or eating food that’s become unsafe (contaminated) with the bacteria. It can happen in areas where there’s a lack of clean, safe water.
