What is a left atrial appendage occlusion

If you have atrial fibrillation, your doctor may have spoken to you about the left atrial appendage occlusion procedure (LAAO). This procedure means that a cardiologist (heart doctor) will insert a device into your heart to prevent a stroke when in atrial fibrillation.
