As you try different management options, remember that if something doesn’t work the way you thought it would, you can think about other options and connect with your healthcare provider to find what will work for you.
Watching your symptoms is important. Call your healthcare provider or Health Link at 811 if you have any concerns. Watch for:
- fever
- blood in your urine
- increasing or severe pain in your side, belly, groin, or genitals
- increasing pain when you pee
- not being able to pee
- peeing more or less
Some kidney stones may need to be monitored regularly. In these cases, your healthcare provider may ask you to have an x-ray or ultrasound every year.
Ask your healthcare team what to expect in terms of follow-up communication. Call your healthcare team whenever you:
- have questions
- notice your symptoms getting worse
- have problems with your medicine
- haven’t gotten test results or heard back about an appointment in the time you had agreed to
